William Malek has a unique training and consulting practice working with executives and management teams to plan and design executable strategies for organizational growth, innovation or survival. He has spent well over 10,000 hours in facilitated workshops in some of the world’s most successful organizations, both private and public. His creative approach is derived from studying the practices of high performing organizations and debating/collaborating with top Stanford University professors. More importantly, he has also integrated his own 25-year learning journey leading up to becoming a CEO. William has practical real world experiences with many different industry executives who have “lived yet another day” after discovering the real root cause of their organization’s performance issues around implementing a business strategy.
His passion in life has been the study of strategy execution and project planning. He has worked with business start-ups as well as fast growing privately-held family-owned businesses while applying his international management consultancy experience from working with companies like Cisco, Qualcomm, McKesson, Wipro and IBM to name a few. William has clients both East & West, and knows how to integrate both company cultures and national cultures.
He is the former program director (2001-2007) for the Advanced Project Management Program (SAPM) at Stanford University, a market leader in executive education. During this same time, he also ran a 60-person management consulting and training business that implemented the tools and practices taught in the program.
As one of the top-ranked instructors in the Stanford SAPM program, he also helped design and develop award-winning executive education courses including “Converting Strategy into Action,” “Mastering the Project Portfolio,” “Designing Organizations for Execution,” and “Leadership for Strategic Execution.”
Some of William’s innovative thinking around the Strategy Execution Framework that he co-created is described in his book entitled, Executing Your Strategy: How to Break it Down & Get it Done, published by the Harvard Business School Press.
William has an MBA from Capella University and a BS in engineering from the University of California-Santa Barbara. A few of his certifications include Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM), Project Management Professional (PMP®) and New Product Development Professional (NPDP), Certified Corporate Coach and a licensed Insights Discovery Practitioner for Team Development.
